Our agency will offer a Suicide Support Group in Fort Dodge early in the new year, with the first of six meetings to be held on Jan. 9.
The group is open to anyone over 18 who has lost a family member or friend to suicide over 30 days ago. Clinical Supervisor/Therapist Darla McEnroe, LMSW, will facilitate the group and encourages loved ones struggling from such a loss to join. “More people than ever have lost someone close to them by suicide. Through this group, we will provide hope and support for moving forward in your journey through grief and loss.” One of the members who participated in a recent group held in Sioux City said after participating, “You learn so much being part of a group. It was more helpful than I ever thought it would be.”
There is no cost to join. Meetings will be held on six Mondays, January 9 – February 20, 2023 (no meeting Martin Luther King. Jr. Day, Jan 16), from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. at the Fort Dodge location at 1414 Central Avenue. Membership will remain the same for the entire session. Darla explains, “my co-facilitator Lisa Conner, LMHC, NCC, and I will provide a caring, comfortable and confidential setting in which you can listen, share and connect with others to build an on-going support system.”
