What is the Farm and Food Workers Relief Program (FFWR)?

This relief is intended to defray costs for reasonable and necessary personal, family, or living expenses related to the COVID-19 pandemic, such as but not limited to costs for personal protective equipment (PPE), dependent care, and expenses associated with quarantines and testing. Grant recipients will have a period of two years (24 months) to distribute direct relief in the form of $600 flat-rate payments per eligible beneficiary. This is not a renewable nor annual benefit. Once a worker has been verified as eligible, the worker is to receive a single $600 payment to be released in a single financial transaction.

Who is eligible?

This grant is meant to assist FRONT-LINE WORKERS (not owners, officers or professionals)

Any of the following qualify for assistance iif employed for at least one day starting January 27, 2020 until today (or until the CDC officially declares and end-date to the pandemic):

  • Farmworkers

  • Meatpacking Workers: Employees engaged in animal slaughtering and meat or poultry processing, including packaging the meat or poultry

  • Field Workers

  • Livestock Workers

  • Grocery Store Workers  

Beware of Fraud

Avoid scams and fraud when applying for the Farm and Food Workers Relief Program (FFWR)


There is no need to go to a notary to apply for the USDA Farm and Food Workers Relief (FFWR) program.

  • Only organizations awarded the grant by the USDA may process Farm and Food Workers Relief (FFWR) applications.

  • Visit www.ams.usda.gov/services/grants/ffwr to view the list of organizations selected to distribute the direct relief payments and find a grantee serving your region.

  • Application periods may begin at different times. Relief payments may not be made available at the same time throughout the country.

Application Assistance is Free
There is no need to pay for application assistance. There will be no cost to apply for Farm and Food Workers Relief (FFWR).

Never provide personal documents or any form of identification to unapproved organizations.

What is needed to qualify?

  • Self-certify you incurred expenses preparing for, preventing exposure to, and/or responding to the COVID-19 pandemic such as, but not limited to: costs for personal protective equipment (PPE), expenses associated with quarantines and testing, and dependent care, and 3) self-certify you have not previously received an FFWR beneficiary payment through another entity. Documentation is not required.

  • Each administering/granting entity may have an additional certification process in place.

What do I need to bring?

Ask your granting agency which forms of ID and employment verification are required.
