Angeline's Wing

Hope Has a New Home.

Catholic Charities proudly introduces Angeline’s Wing for Children &
Families—an expansion of our Sioux City location created to meet the
growing mental health needs of children, adolescents, and families across
our diocese and throughout Siouxland.

Today, more than one-third of our Sioux City clients are children and
adolescents. In recent years, that number has risen dramatically, reflecting
the broader youth mental health crisis.

Angeline’s Wing was built in response to this urgent need. Designed
specifically for young children and their families, it offers age-appropriate,
trauma-informed therapy spaces that are welcoming and rooted in dignity.

Angeline's Wing was built thanks to a generous estate gift from Angeline Thom of Ashton, a devoted Catholic who blessed us with this opportunity.  Other grants and donations have also made the project possible, including the MRHD Economic Development Match Grant of $1 million and a number of other generous individuals and businesses.

This new wing strengthens access to care. Catholic Charities serves
children of all ages, faiths, and backgrounds—regardless of a family’s
ability to pay. In a neighborhood and region with limited specialized
providers, Angeline’s Wing expands access to essential outpatient mental
health services and provides the care without a cost barrier.

Guided by faith and compassion, Catholic Charities remains committed to
helping children not only heal—but thrive.

Play Therapy

Friendly rooms for younger children. Children express emotions, build trust, and heal through developmentally appropriate play. Play therapy gives children a safe way to communicate what they may not yet have words to say.

Creative art spaces allow children and adolescents to process feelings that may be difficult to express with words. Through art, clients explore emotions, strengthen self-awareness, and develop healthy coping skills.

Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, an evidence-based treatment, strengthens family relationships and improves behavior in young children. In this play-based space, therapists provide live coaching as parents practice skills that build connection and reduce challenging behaviors.

A Prayer for Angeline's Wing.jpg

A Very Special Prayer

Bishop Keehner composed a special prayer to commemorate the grand opening and blessing of Angeline's Wing. Prayer cards were distributed to all attendees. Download the prayer and join us in praying it to ask God’s help in providing children the necessary support and care for their earthly journey.
