Catholic Charities was named the recipient of the Missouri River Historical Foundation, Inc. (MRHD) 2024 Economic Development Match Grant for $1,000,000 during an award ceremony on August 22.

This grant will help build Angeline’s Wing for Children & Families, an addition to the 1601 Military Road, Sioux City location for specialized youth mental health services.

One-to-one matching dollars were required, which were made possible for Catholic Charities through an estate gift from the late Angeline Thom. The building wing will be named in her memory.

MRHD’s mission is to improve the quality of life in Woodbury County and indicated investing in our youth was an

investment in our community’s future. MRHD Board President Sarah Kleber said, "The project promises to foster economic growth by uplifting and rehabilitating youth in our community who need help." Our agency extends sincere appreciation to Sarah the MRHD Board of Directors for choosing Angeline's Wing for Children & Families for its generous award.

A groundbreaking event will be scheduled for later in fall 2024.
